Register now for Booby Bolt 5K and kids run

By Chris Gregory | on August 29, 2023

Registration is underway for the annual Pink Out For Hope Booby Bolt 5K and Kids Fun Run. The event is always on the first Saturday of October beginning at the Balthrop Park in Pleasant View.

This year the timed 3.1-mile run and walk event is Saturday, Oct. 7 from 8-11 a.m. The favorite among the youth is a 1-mile run for ages 12 and under with each youth registered receiving a T-shirt and race medal.

This is the major fundraiser for Pink Out For Hope, a nonprofit organization focusing on breast cancer awareness and assisting women in Cheatham County who have received a breast cancer diagnosis. To date over 30 women in Cheatham County have received assistance.

All registration is online at pinkoutforhope.org. Over 600 participants registered for the last race.

The Kids Fun Run begins at 8 a.m. Registration cost is $20 per child (no race day registration). The Booby Bolt 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m. (Survivors’ Recognition Walk at 8:15 a.m.). The registration fee is $40 per person ($35 per person for a team of eight or more participants – no team registration on race day). Individual registration on race day ($50 per person) begins at 7:30 a.m. Awards for age categories will follow the 5K.

Anyone who registers by Saturday, Sept. 16 will be guaranteed a T-shirt. Race timing bib and swag bag pick-up will be at the Pleasant View First Baptist Church fellowship hall located beside the Balthrop Park on Thursday, Oct. 5 from 6-8 p.m.

If you want to receive a T-shirt and support the cause, but can’t attend the race, you can be a “Booby Buddy” by registering online. The fee is $30.

Registration is also open for businesses to register for the “Paint The Town Pink” contest. Participants are encouraged to use creative thinking when decorating outside their storefront with a pink breast cancer awareness theme. In order to be included in the judging, your business must register at pinkoutforhope.org and have decorations up by Oct. 1.

Judging will be held on Oct. 15 and a traveling trophy will be awarded to the best decoration in Ashland City, Joelton, Kingston Springs, Pegram and Pleasant View.
